Driver Safety & Security
Instruction
(DSSI)
*This is NOT a basic or beginning driver's course. This is a supplemental safety & security driving course for valid, licensed drivers to improve their skills and safety while operating a vehicle.
Driver Safety
The safety of ALL drivers is our primary concern at BlueHorse. Valid, licensed drivers are encouraged to use the supplemental safety and security information given in this course to reinforce and improve upon the basic driving skills and techniques already learned through other required instruction.
Becoming a safer driver not only benefits you, your family, and others that might be in your vehicle, but also that of every other driver.
Very few licensed vehicle operators review or revisit the basics of driving or keep abreast of new or changing motor vehicle laws such as speed enforcement, vehicle registration requirements, impaired driving laws, and license requirements, which largely contributes to many infractions, costing thousands in fines and court fees as well as creating a dangerous driving environment for all citizens.

Driver Security
Driving safely and within the scope of the law is only half of what keeps drivers safe.
Unintentionally "bad" drivers, for a variety of reasons, create hazards for other drivers every day and on nearly every roadway, which, through improved attention, awareness, and the proper actions, can be avoided or negotiated.
Aggressive drivers, though not intent on causing harm by their actions, put every other driver at risk by driving recklessly. Most often this person is under a time constraint, but this causes dangerous situations as well as dangerous interactions with other drivers that are perceived as "too slow" or "in the wrong lane".
Many instances pass without incident as quickly as the late driver passes other vehicles. However, a combination of other negative factors, such as emotions, impairment, criminal activity, and others, can spark what's commonly known as Road Rage, entangling other drivers in a deadly game of vehicle tag on a crowded roadway.
The security portion of the Driver Safety & Security Instruction (DSSI) offers the experience of a police patrol instructor and supervisor in a common sense and basic tactical approach to maintaining your personal safety and security while driving.
What we DO NOT offer:
This is NOT a Defensive Driving Course, nor is this a Tactical Driving Course. Valid, licensed drivers will learn common sense, police-patrol-implemented-and-tried, awareness behaviors to improve their safety and security while in and operating a motor vehicle. BlueHorse highly recommends adherence to all laws governing the legal and safe use of a motor vehicle and instruction is Consideration will be given to firearms safety and deployment while inside of a vehicle and a familiarization (with demonstration) of the protective features of the student's/client's own vehicle.
It takes WEEKS of training to reach even an introductory understanding of Emergency Vehicle Operations and the basic concepts of armed escort operations. This course DOES NOT intend to provide such instruction.
Truly "professional" drivers are few and far between. Participating in dedicated, disciplined, and professionally evaluated training, which, if correctly applied, CAN improve your overall safety in many circumstances, unfortunately, it CANNOT guarantee your safety on the road. A certificate of completion is offered for the four hour and eight hour DSSI. Although certification is offered for attendance and completion of the course, anyone using the instruction and techniques in these courses should use care, caution, and due diligence, as well as remain within the constraints of the law. Underage, juvenile, and not-yet-adults should not use them without the proper supervision, guidance, and safety protocols in place.
Disclaimer:
Any and all training, instruction, consultation, and advice, whether classroom, presentation, in person, or via email/text/message, is given for the sole purpose of using personal experience and training to impart and convey the safest possible tactics, vehicle and defensive options use in the context of the student/client/customer's particular needs and vehicle. The techniques, instruction, and tactics imparted through BlueHorse are not intended to qualify or certify anyone to conduct any tactical operations, civilian, home-based, or otherwise. Time spent on instruction will be documented on BlueHorse letterhead and/or certificate.
